Co-Curricular Activities
DDHA
believes in holistic education and does not
focus merely on academic growth of its
students. In an age where besides academic
excellence other aspects of a harmonious
personality are also treated very important,
by incorporating several co-curricular
activities into curriculum, strives to lend
a cutting edge to the students and help them
stand tall in the crowd. These activities
are conducted through various Inter-House
Activities at different levels and groups. A
wide array of literary, cultural, sports and
art related activities is conducted in a
scheduled and well-worked out manner which
spreads over the entire academic year. The
students are encouraged and guided to
participate and win in these activities. The
winners are awarded with Certificates of
Merit. However, more than winning,
participation is stressed upon.
Students will have a choice to be a part of
one or more of the following clubs –
1. Nature club

Guest Speaker Programmes
The Education in Human Values is intended
to draw out the best in a child and to
enable his/her personality to develop
towards perfection'. This process of
blossoming human excellence calls for
excellence in each of the five domains or
aspects of human personality. These five
domains, namely, physical, intellectual,
emotional, psychic and spiritual define the
human system in to-to, as a whole.' A firm
believer of the statement, DDHA gives due
stress for inculcation of human values among
its students. Value Education is imparted
through class activities during the Home
Room periods where students are given topics
based on values like honesty, fairness,
tolerance, prudence, compassion,
co-operation, helpfulness, self-discipline,
courage etc. They are observed and evaluated
according to the adoption and reflection of
these values in their behaviour.
Arrangements
are made to invite eminent persons from
various walks of life and to enlighten the
students with their expertise, views,
knowledge, skills and general understanding
and appreciation of life. Such Guest Speaker
Programmes not only enrich the students but
also give them a common platform to share
their ideas and opinions and seek solutions
to the queries haunting them.
With the ever-increasing importance of Group
Discussion as a testing, selecting,
eliminating tool, the school feels it
necessary to incorporate at least one Group
Discussion class per week in the school
timetable for classes VI and above. Taking
part in the discussion is compulsory and the
students shall be evaluated every time they
participate in such group discussions. The
evaluation shall be reflected in the Report
Cards.
Yoga & Meditation
In the challenging world of today, the
students are under a lot of mental pressure
and tension. Their minds need to be strong
and firm to face the ever – changing needs
and wants. Training in yoga and meditation
is imparted right from the primary section
so that the students learn and obtain
expertise to deal with the tensions and
problems in their lives and de-stress
themselves.
Educational Excursions and Tours
Picnics, study tours, field trips will be
organized a couple of times in a year. This
will add to the bonding of the student with
his peers and also his teachers. Trips will
also be undertaken to places of historical
significance, educational purposes etc. The
study tours and excursions are effective
tools of learning which help to reinforce
the knowledge gathered from the classrooms.
Camping and trekking is provided at an
optional level. Mountaineering trips are
undertaken in the picturesque and hilly
regions in and around Uttrakhand and
Himachal Pradesh. An indemnity bond has to
be signed by parents/guardians before a
child goes out on such excursions/tours. |
